How to book the best rental experience:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • Summer months are high season in Southport. To find the largest rental home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local Carolina Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on local tours and attractions.

Planning and choosing yourrental:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Stay aboard a Beautiful Hunter 41 Sailboat has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you book the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
  • Is your group looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your contract.

More tips for your visit:

  • Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • To make certain that damages are not attributed to your stay, record any problem areas during arrival. Call the host immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a wonderful time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
