Spears (Upper Unit)

I was leery about no current reviews on this site. However, we LOVED our stay and will stay here again! The long term renters below were awesome and helpful. The beds were comfortable and cool in the evening. Kitchen was outfitted with all your needs. The only recommendation for this property owner would be to supply a hair dryer in the bathrooms. Thankfully, I have a lot of family here in Wilmington, I just borrowed one of theirs.
I hope you enjoy this hidden gem as much as we have. Until again Wrightsville Beach xoxo

We stayed at the Spears upper level. We found the place very clean, no signs of pests, It’s within walking distance to the beach and the pier. The beds were comfortable. The porch was big with lots of chairs to sit and watch the rain or enjoy the ocean breeze. The whole place was decorated cute and was very welcoming. We didn’t want to leave and look forward to returning.

Would definitely rent here again. Not Ocean View but very close to beach with easy access. Rental is far enough away from Bar Noise but close enough to walk if you wanted to go. Property was very clean, kitchen was well stocked and more than enough linens,towels were provided. Very quiet location with good parking (3-4 cars) Loved the deck with rocking chairs. Would definitely recommend Spears Upper Unit.

The best thing about this unit is that it is mere steps away from the beach. The unit itself is fine. There is a very nice front porch, the kitchen has the basics anyone will need, the wifi is reliable and reaches to the front porch, and the beds were comfortable. This was our second stay at Spears Upper unit. There really is not an ocean view, but you can hear the ocean, which I really enjoyed while sitting on the front porch. We will come back again!

Positives:
Location is great, two minute walk to the beach
Small space but great for one or two small families
Bed linens and bath towels included for no extra charge
Free wifi and premium channels
Easy walking distance to shops, convenient
Beach with lifeguard
Property mgmt company extremely responsive
Negatives:
No beach chairs or toys
Kitchen sparsely appointed (few dishes, no dish soap or paper products)
Cooking a meal here would be a little challenging
Not a lot of seating in the common area (unless using the kitchen table)
No outside sun on deck, house gets very little natural light

Hello, Fabulous vacation for 15th year in a row, we are thrilled with the house. An outside shower/shower head on the left side of the stairs would be a big help in rinsing off from the beach before going inside. Two very minor details, no cutting board this year and the can opener didn't work very well (things I would want to know if it were my property). Thanks as always for a terrific vacation, we'll be back next year! Barbara

House was well maintained, clean and was equipped with all essentials. Proximity to the beach was a definite plus. My only suggestions would be to provide a bin for recycling and to provide a grill for outdoor cooking.

Great place , good location. Only downside was no outdoor shower, and no BBQ. Grill outside. Otherwise it was very clean, updated furniture , etc etc .

Very pleasant , quiet, and convenient location at the beach. The unit was very clean and well equipped with kitchen items, tv's, comfortable sleeping arrangements as well as creatively decorated. Property management provided excellent customer service and were quick to make sure our quality of stay was their top priority. I would stay at this location again and would recommend it to anyone looking to vacation at wrightsville beach.

Absolutely a great place. Simple and spacious and very comfortable. Nice neighbors and a quick walk to the beach and pier. Any minor problems we had were quickly taken care of by the rental agency. Will definitely use again.

Everything was really nice; the house, the location, and the management company. The reason for the lower overall score was the downstairs neighbor (a permanent renter) had family or friends visiting and they had a baby. We have kids so I understand but they asked us on more than one occasion to have our kids be quite because the baby was trying to nap. Again we have kids so I understand but there were 2 dogs in their place that seemed to bark anytime someone walked down the street so it seemed extreme to ask us to be quieter when they were generating plenty of noise themselves. Plus it was just rather rude especially since one of the times was in the middle of the afternoon.

Convenient, great location to beach and area, clean, well kept--
parking is a bit narrow. Could use some additional baking dishes and sharp knives! Would definitely stay again...

We were very pleased with this charming beach cottage. The interior was updated and clean and beyond that furnished with care and good taste. All we had to do was bring in food and enjoy! Proximity to the beach was great considering we have a 2 and 4 year old going back and forth to the beach. Neighborhood was rather quiet so porch rocking was quiet and relaxing. Plan to return!

This is a beautiful house, nicely furnished, clean, and just seconds from the beach. My only complaint is that I was traveling with my children and there was only a VCR and no DVD player. Who carries VCR cassettes anymore??? The kids brought movies to watch and were unable to do so. Otherwise, great spot. I would certainly come here again.

Our week stay was great. My husband and I were joined by our daughter, son in law and grandsons, one and three years old. The website photos really do show the home exactly as we found it, except for the exterior is now painted green. Very clean, with minimal amount of "stuff" to tempt our very busy babies. Kitchen had everything we needed and there was plenty of room to entertain our Wilmington relatives. Beds were very comfortable. Rockers on the porch were awesome and the beach and walking loop are just steps away. First floor long term renters were very friendly and helpful. On our daily loop walk, we visited the fire department where the boys were allowed to explore the trucks and fire house. Wonderful hospitality and great fun for the boys. Rental company was helpful and key exchange was easy. I would definitely return.

When it's cold and windy during winter in PA, I go to my "Happy Place" which is Wrightsville Beach in July. We have stayed in the same wonderful house for 13 years and enjoy its convenience, cleanliness and the beach where ocean temps which are always in the 80's and the life guards are laid back and don't tweet you to death. If there's a better beach than Wrightsville I haven't found it, it's always worth the 9 hour drive.

The house is in a great location. However, it is described as "ocean view" but is not. Since we only wanted a place in easy walking distance of the beach, that was OK. The wifi worked great and the note on the bulletin board left by a previous guest was very helpful; I have never before put spaces in a password. The beds were comfortable. There were clean linens and towels that were fine. The washer and dryer worked fine. However, there were a number of small things that were annoying. There was not enough toilet paper left for a week; there were small items found behind furniture that were missed by cleaning previously; general operational maintenance was a problem with small things (we had to replace a lightbulb, a lampshade was missing in one bedroom, a bedroom lamp did not work, the pull cord on one of the ceiling fans did not work, one of the shower heads was problematic, there was no dishwasher detergent, etc.). Given the cost of the unit, I did not expect these small problematic housekeeping details. Overall: nothing special. I recommend either improving these little details or lowering the price.

In renting the Spears(upper unit) for two years, the location of this property is great. Just a hop, skip,& jump to the beach, Johnny's Pier, King Neptune, etc, and provides quiet evenings. Spears upper level accommodations as a facility are nice, however there are some maintenance issues and the kitchen appliances and cookware are less desirable, and we choose to bring our own cooking utensils.

Overall the property was great. The only thing wrong was the lack of pans. Only had one frying pan. Made cooking a little difficult.

Spears upper level is in a great location, a step away from the pristine Wrightsville Beach, and in walking distance to the eateries of the beach. The accommodations were good containing most of the amenities needed to make a great stay. The linens provided
were a great plus. I was disappointed in the appliances and cookware provided - made it difficult to cook meals. I would recommend this property with suggesting persons renting if expecting to cook meals bring along the required cookware.

The locale to the beach was awesome, and the history of the house/family was quite wonderful. Still not sure how the parking was to be, but we managed. Used aluminum foil on the charcoal grill vs using gas. It seemed to belong to the lower tenant's area. Actually did work on the inside, side porch area. Couldn't find the guest book, but would have loved to have completed it.
