Tricks and tips for getting the best Holden Beach vacation home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Summertime is high season in the Carolina Beach area. To get the best value, try changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic.
  • In the Carolina Beach area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guides contain coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Filter your rental search:

  • To start, have your family commit to dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Bijou by the Sea has with everything you need for a wonderful island vacation! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is right for your vacation group.
  • If there's an individual Carolina Beach destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.

During your stay:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few issues.
  • Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a wonderful time? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
