Jerry’s is the brainchild of Jerry Rouse – a Wilmington local who is famed for his nearly 40 years of catering experience. While fresh catering is still available, everyday patrons without a big party to plan can still taste the cuisine that made Jerry locally famous with a visit to this relatively new addition to the Downtown Wilmington scene.
The interior is elegant, with dark lighting and white linen tablecloths, and the menu is equally refined with a vast selection of appetizers, soups and salads, and fresh entrees. Local seafood is heavily showcased in veritably every category, starting with fresh starters like the southern fried oysters, the chilled tiger shrimp cocktail, and the “Calamari alla Diavolo” – or parmesan-fried calamari with spicy marinara, chopped prosciutto, and toasted gremolada. Entrees are just as classically elevated, and include Cape Fear mainstays like the stuffed flounder with crab imperial, the southern fried seafood platter with shrimp, scallops, and / or flounder, and the goat cheese crusted grilled grouper with roasted tomatoes, asparagus, buttermilk mash, and honey-lemon aioli. For special events, the menu is even grander, and can be tailored to suit just about any taste or style.
A fine destination for a date night, or a good first stop to get a sense of Jerry’s catering, Jerry’s is a solid option for both intimate parties and grand events.
