Our top Sunset Beach vacation rental booking tips:

Get the most from your budget:

  • Reserve your rental property in Fall or Spring months to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have deals for local accommodations and attractions.

Finding the perfect vacation rental in the Carolina Beach area:

  • Choose your vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 131 Bay Landing by Sunset Vacations has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. If not, email the property owner before reserving your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or may be applied to your agreement.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, record any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the property manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Be a good neighbor. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
