Strategies to get the best rental experience:

When to visit Oak Island & When to book:

  • To find the best vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Carolina Beach attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.

Choosing and booking your prefectvacation home:

  • First, have your group agree to dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Beachwalk cottage in East Beach overlooking the marsh of Davis Canal has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. If not, email or call the property manager before you reserve the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

More considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Upon arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
  • On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
