Strategies for getting the best Oak Island rental home experience:

Sticking to your spending budget:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in the Carolina Beach area. To get the best rental within your budget, we recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants.
  • Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many rental management companies supply Carolina Beach area visitor guide magazines which include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Start by selecting trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Colorful beachfront condo with a pool, washer/dryer, & central AC has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before booking the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or could be applied to your invoice.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Know before you go:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Make a record of any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to drive new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
