Getting the best Wilmington rental experience:

Finding the best value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the best value, try changing your family's Carolina Beach trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Carolina Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • In the Carolina Beach area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.

Planning, picking, and booking the perfect Carolina Beach vacation home:

  • Start by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Renovated cottage mins from the beaches and downtown. has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. If not, call the property management company before booking the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what is best for your vacation.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

Tips for a fantastic stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
