Carolina Beach rental property booking tips and tricks:

Sticking to your rental home budget:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the largest rental within your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Carolina Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to choose the best rental:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Island Joy has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible online. Otherwise, contact the property manager before reserving your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what bed configuration is right for your family.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental

Tips to have a fantastic stay:

  • Put the owner's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Upon check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to drive future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
