Rental home booking tips and tricks:

Find your perfect rental:

  • Summer is high season in Oak Island. Booking your Carolina Beach vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many management companies supply Carolina Beach area visitors guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Carolina Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to pick the perfect vacation rental in the Carolina Beach area:

  • Start by having your family select date ranges and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Nautical Themed Home with Ocean Views, Near Beach & Pier. Sweet EmOcean has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before booking the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

More considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • To make sure damages aren't linked to your visit, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the property manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a wonderful time? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
