Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Oak Island vacation home experience:

Getting the best value:

  • Book your rental home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Carolina Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides contain deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Start by choosing a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Ocean View Third Row Home has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. Otherwise, call the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or may be applied to your contract.

More tips for your visit:

  • We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone.
  • During check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
