Tricks and tips for getting the perfect rental home experience:

How to get the best value:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Summer is high season in the Carolina Beach area. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is a good way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Feelin' Tip Sea: Lovely Coastal Home with Fire Pit on Oak Island, NC has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Carolina Beach vacation rental search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you reserve your home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the property manager right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a excellent vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
