Tips and Tricks for getting the best vacation home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Carolina Beach area. To book the largest vacation home within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Carolina Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Many rental management companies supply Carolina Beach area visitors guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Carolina Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Make a plan and pick your Carolina Beach rental home:

  • First and foremost, have your group agree to date ranges and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Gull Cottage: Oceanfront house in Yaupon Beach near the Oak Island Fishing Pier has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before booking the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your family.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
  • Note any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a terrific stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
