Tips to get the optimal Carolina Beach vacation property experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Summer is high season in Oak Island. To get the best value, shift your trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • In the Carolina Beach area, The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Carolina Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Make a plan and pick your prefect Carolina Beach rental:

  • Select a group leader, choose your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Soak at the Oak: Oceanview condo with community pool and close beach access has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally available online. If they are not listed, call the property owner before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • Upon arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to compel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
