Tips and Tricks to get the best Wilmington vacation home experience:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Carolina Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • In the Carolina Beach area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Carolina Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.

Planning, picking, and booking the bestvacation home:

  • Start by selecting your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. The One Tree Hill Getaway! Walking distance to Live Oak Bank Pavilion! has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available online. If they are not listed, email the property management company before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • During arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a excellent time? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
