Our top Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

Money saving strategies:

  • In the Carolina Beach area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the largest rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Carolina Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Owners sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Carolina Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Narrow your Search:

  • Begin by selecting trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. The Sandcastle @ Tiki
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If not, email the host before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your family.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

Considerations for your stay:

  • Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
  • To make sure no damages are linked to your visit, record any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the property manager right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
