Vacation rental tips and tricks:

Finding the best value:

  • Summer is high season in the Carolina Beach area. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties.
  • In the Carolina Beach area, The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local Carolina Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Planning and choosing your prefectrental:

  • Start by selecting the best vacation week and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Updated condo with riverfront patio & central AC - walkable attractions has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before reserving the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • If there's an individual Carolina Beach beach you are crazy about, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges applied to your invoice.

Have a great stay:

  • Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your stay, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. Call the rental manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches. See for yourself by scanning the QR code and call Victory Beach Vacations at 910.458.0868 to book your Cape Fear getaway. Start making your memories today! —Grace Silipigni
