Our top Vacation rental home tips:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Book your Carolina Beach rental property in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Carolina Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to pick the perfect rental in Carolina Beach:

  • Choose vacation week and spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. One Block to the beach has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the host before you reserve your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or may be applied to your agreement.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of problems.
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
  • Upon check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great time? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
