Our top Rental home booking tips and tricks:

Money saving strategies:

  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • To get the largest rental within your budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Carolina Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • First and foremost, have your family decide on a vacation week and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Seaside Retreat in Carolina Beach - Sleeps 4 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before booking your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or applied to your contract.
  • Does your family require unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .

During your stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many concerns.
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a great time? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
